Jamestown College student Jenna Tews of Morgan, Minn., received national recognition at the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) National Leadership Conference held last month in Atlanta.
Tews competed in the Database Design and Application event and brought home third place. The competition involved creating a database using various features and taking a written test during the conference.
“It feels really good to do as well as I did, especially at a national competition,” Tews says. “The whole conference was a great experience that taught me a lot of things I can use in the future.”
Tews, an information technology and communication major, is president of the Jamestown College PBL chapter and is vice president of operations for the North Dakota PBL organization. She is also involved in the Lambda Pi Eta and Alpha Chi honor societies at Jamestown College. She serves as the graphics designer for The Collegian, the Jamestown College student newspaper.
PBL is a professional organization for students interested in pursuing business and related careers. The Jamestown College chapter adviser is Mary Reed, associate professor of computer science and technology.
