Full tuition scholarships awarded

Jamestown College has awarded the prestigious, full tuition Wilson Scholarship to three high school seniors.

Ben Larson, Jamestown; Kelsey Eckart, Harvey; and Stephanie Erlandson, Breckenridge, Minn., were selected among students participating in an on-campus interview, essay and examination process in November. Another Wilson Scholarship session will be held Feb. 16.

The Wilson Scholarship provides full tuition renewable for four years and was established in memory of the late Dr. John L. Wilson and his wife, Palma. Dr. Wilson served on the College's Board of Trustees from 1957 until his death in 1983. Recipients of the scholarship must demonstrate commendable academic and leadership skills.

“We are excited to have these students on our campus,” says Tena Lawrence, dean of enrollment management. “They are bright and determined, and they will thrive at Jamestown College.”

Larson is the son of Keith and Leslee Larson. At Jamestown High School, he has been active in National Honor Society, cross country (captain), track, swimming and basketball. He plans to major in pre-medicine at Jamestown College.

Eckart is the daughter of Richard and Marcella Eckart. She plans to major in music education at Jamestown College. At Harvey High School, she has been active in Student Council, National Honor Society, FCCLA, swing choir and youth group.

Erlandson is the daughter of Eric and Patti Erlandson. At Breckenridge High School, she has been active in Student Council, National Honor Society, Envirothon, Mathletes, volleyball, basketball, track, theatre, speech, music and church activities. She plans to major in pre-physical therapy at Jamestown College.
